SO MUCH MEAT

Traveling through Ethiopia, from the capital Addis Ababa to village markets and the ancient city of Harar, I encountered meat. Lots of meat.

Be it at butcher shops or restaurants; there was meat. And not just meat, but meat hanging out in the open air. Draped over poles. With flies taking gleeful advantage of the buffet.

Wait, what???

Ethiopians love their meat, even raw. They apparently suffer no ill effects from the way it is stored and sold in their day-to-day lives.

And here I am, throwing away cooked leftovers that don’t make it to the fridge fast enough.

But when in Rome, right? I mostly stuck to rice, cooked veggies, and cheese pizza. Ironically, it was the cheese pizza that made me sick. I should have had a steak.
